New Delhi, July 26, 2018: The First Construction Council today announced the nominations from the North region for 13th Construction World and Builder Awards (CWAB) in New Delhi. CWAB Awards are organized every year by the Council to honour key stakeholders of the construction world.

This is the first time that the council is recognizing architects, builders and interior designers in India based on regions. The nominees from northern region are Aishwarya Tipnis Architects; ANB Consultants; Atrium Design Studio; ATS Infrastructure Limited; M3M India Pvt. Ltd.; Omaxe; Aspire Designs; Chromed Design Studio; rat[LAB) amongst others.

Pratap Padode, Founder of First Construction Council, said, “Through this initiative, we aim to recognize the emerging talent in the regions and appreciate their efforts in the real estate industry. One of the key drivers of new real estate demand for many cities has been their inclusion in the ‘Smart city’ program by the Government. While the real estate industry is making progress in development of smart buildings and infrastructure, it is critical to understand how these developments will align with the smart city ecosystem.  The advances in technology will also dominate the next era of innovation in construction and building.”
The announcement was followed by a panel discussion between industry leaders from the region. Some of the panelists included - Lipika Sud, Dikshu Kukreja, and Pradeep Jain amongst others. The panel discussed upon the buyer preferences in the North, the real estate market; role of design and planning to meet buyer requirements; and what's trending - innovative and smart building technologies that meet buyer needs.

Lipika Sud, Owner Lipika Sud interiors said, “Today’s generation is actively downsizing their living spaces due to nuclear families. Millennials are keen on functionality and minimalistic design to keep a clutter-free home. They no longer want the Italian marble or the fancy chandeliers, but rather sustainable design ideas. They are more and more conscious of the time, energy and expense that go into the upkeep of living spaces.”

Discussing upon the role of technology in the real estate development these days, Pradeep Jain, Chairman, Parsvnath Developers, added, “Consumers are demanding “technology friendly” spaces which mean lots of outlets and charging stations. Homes being designed are compact as millennials are known to not fancy long commutes and stay close to work. Tailor-made homes are being designed for young people who are not too fussy about things.”

The panelists also agreed on how today’s customer is smart and not apprehensive to make investments at an early age. Dikshu Kukreja, owner Kukreja associates said, “Customers believe in living a quality lifestyle and do not mind spending a little extra on their homes.”

Speaking about the CWAB journey, Falguni Padode, Co-founder, First Construction Council said, “The model started with a simple ceremony in 2006. In 2011, the awards took on a theme – one year ‘green’, one year ‘youth’, one year ‘glocal’, and so on. In 2016, with the SMART moves made by the Government and growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities gaining ground, we reached out to projects across the country and added a whole new category: NOTEWORTHY PROJECTS, and with that, a whole new process as well.”

The series of events cover East, West, North and South regions. The winners from all four regions will be announced on September 12th in Mumbai at the CWAB 2018.
