Heart transplant was done with the help from three states
The heart traveled a distance of 45 kms in the record time of 45minutes in the green corridor stretch
Bangalore, 7th August 2018: A heart from Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam was transported to Karnataka, Bangalore via flight where the organ was transplanted in a 13 year old patient at Fortis Bannerghatta Hospital in Bangalore. The organ was transferred through an exclusive traffic green corridor initiated by Fortis Bannerghatta along with Bangalore Traffic Police Department stretching from Kempegowda International airport to Fortis Bannerghatta. With facilitation of this corridor, the ambulance covered a distance of 45 km in 45 mins.
A potential organ alert was received by the team at Fortis Bannerghatta on Monday evening. The organ was harvested from a 20 year old male in Visakhapatnam who had met with a road accident and was declared brain dead. Upon the family’s consent the heart was allocated to Fortis Bannerghatta. The organ started at 9:30 PM from Visakhapatnam towards Bangalore and reached the hospital by 10:56 PM.
