This ‘World Environment Day’ Volkswagen Pune Plant strengthened its commitment towards taking responsibility for the environment and society. The employees aligned themselves with United Nation’s World Environment Day theme ‘Beat Air Pollution’ and planted around 200 saplings at two locations in Volkswagen Pune Plant premises. Mr. Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited and Skoda Auto India Private Limited along with other senior leaders planted around 50 saplings of ‘Kesar’ mango at a site near Volkswagen Group Academy while Mr. Jan Frydrych, Head HR and Admin led the employees to plant over 150 saplings of ‘Karanj’ on the east side of the Chakan premises. With monsoon approaching in the coming days, around 4000 more saplings are planned.
In quest of saving environment, around 30 Volkswagen employees cycled their way to work on early Wednesday morning and joined the Green Campaign run by Volkswagen Pune Plant. The team cycled from all corners of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad like Kothrud, Karve Road, Warje, Ravet, Wakad, and Bavdhan.

The idea behind the cycling activity was to promote the use of environment friendly modes of commute once in a while and encourage more and more employees to do so.
