New Delhi, August 5, 2019: KidzByte, India’s fastest growing ‘only-for-kids’ digital news platform is set to expand its footprint across India. Growing fast with over 55,000 children as regular readers, KidzByte is now eyeing a nationwide expansion in other Indian cities and towns, in order to reach out to more school children. In a short span of time, thedigital news platform has become popular among the school going children in the age groups of 8 to 16 years owing to its unique news content and reporting styles.
As a part of its expansion plan, KidzByte will now expand its reach in the cities of Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata in its second phase of expansion. It is aiming to cross the readership of 1 lakh children in the next four to six months. For spreading awareness among the children, KidzByte is planning to undertake engagements with schools and the parents in these cities. Currently, the platform is already become popular among the school going children in Mumbai and other cities such as Bengaluru, New Delhi, Pune, Indore, Patna and Jaipur.
Founded by a media veteran Mr Chetan D’souza and a digital expert Mr Swagat Salunkhe, KidzByte is upbeat about the success of KidzByte. With the factors such as a growing number school – going children (283 million between 6th to 12thStd), about 5 crore students having an internet access, the market for education related content pegs at Rs 15,000 crore. Commenting on the expansion plan, an enthusiastic Mr Chetan D’Souza, Founder, KidzByte, said, “KidzByte started with a primary motive, which is to leverage the time spent by school children on digital media news reading popular among them so that kids get encouraged and gain knowledge acquiring habits at the early age. Most of the news sources are for adults and nothing for school kids. We saw a huge scope for a digital platform where kids could go to gather information on areas such as current affairs, science, environment, sports, entertainment etc. As we are getting in to newer markets, we are planning to further enhance our portfolio to other areas.”
As a growing number of school-going children are moving away from newspaper reading with increasing inclinations towards digital media, KidzByte has created a digital platform - as a news aggregator - in order to bring them back to news reading and help them gain knowledge on various subjects like current affairs, science and technology, sports and entertainment, environment, etc.
As the reading habits among school children are dying out, it is a big question as to how to drive them to read. Understanding the required need for this, the platform offers a number of value addition activities such as Independent News Reading, Improving Vocabulary, Article Writing, Group Readingand so on.There are other offerings such as Fun and learn, Career and education etc. The promoters believe these activities will inculcate news reading habits among the students at an early age which should help them in gaining knowledge and become more confident.
Kidzbyte offers Articles is pure text format so children can have an easy read on their favourite topics. It also offers audio features where news is automatically read out for children with low interest in reading. They are also offering certain video content too. The platform also has sections such as India and World, Fun & Learn, Science & Discovery, Technology and Gadgets, Health & Lifestyle, Sports & Entertainment and Weird & Wacky.
