Reading these four words, “relationship with your heart”, most people might think about the relationships they have with their loved ones, but there is another side to it which is often neglected. And that is the relationship of your heart with your body and its overall well-being.
Considering the rising incidences of heart diseases in India, it’s time to be more aware of yourself and your heart and make efforts to keep it healthy, always.
Relationship of Your Heart with Your Body:
They always say, “listen to your heart” and one should, as it is always right, even being on the left side of the chest. Since the heart is the place where all the blood gets purified and supplied to feed the body cells with the nutrients and provide oxygen, it is important to take care of your heart.
Your heart carries out these four major functions:
- Circulation of oxygen-rich blood throughout the body
- Receiving oxygenated blood from lungs
- Pumping back the blood carrying carbon dioxide to lungs
- Rhythmic contraction and relaxation for movement of blood
Though it is a natural process, if you think carefully, you would realise how selfless heart is as an organ. It purifies all impurities from the blood, like toxins, carbon dioxide and then sends the purified blood again to different body parts. So, if you eat oily food or smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol regularly, the level of toxins in your body are bound to increase which, in turn, can affect your heart.
More the amount of toxins you consume, it becomes difficult for the heart to purify the blood and detoxicate it. Thus, not only your heart becomes slow, but due to the extra pressure, other organs are affected as well. It is similar to being in a toxic relationship where all your energy is wasted on solving things which are not required. Hence, it is essential to understand the importance of letting your heart and body to be physically free of toxins.
Relationship Between Your Heart and Your Eating Habits:
In India, we don’t eat to live, but we live to eat. Most importantly, we eat when we are happy, sad, excited, feeling low, depressed, promoted and you can go on with the list, but the food remains a common thing. So, we basically eat when our heart craves for it rather than when our body needs it. After all, there are so many varieties of food one can relish on in this country.
But there is a fine line between healthy and unhealthy eating habits. For instance, more the consumption of food containing trans and saturated fats, higher will be the level of cholesterol in the blood. This, in turn, damages the blood circulation, heart arteries, vessels and finally the heart itself. Heart attacks are also caused by cholesterol which is present in high level in polyunsaturated fatty foods and even the monounsaturated ones.
Another way food affects heart is by making you obese. In most cases, saturated fats get accumulated in the stomach area, making the body unshaped, also increasing the risk of heart failure and many other diseases.
Your eating habits also lead to heartburn. Abundantly including oily and spicy food in your diet, increases the level of food acids in your body causing heartburn which is many times confused with a heart attack.
Get Your Heart Excited by Exercising Daily
Being excited doesn’t just relate to being happy or tensed. Here we are specifically looking at how physical activity can excite your heart and increase your blood circulation.
With regular exercising, bad cholesterol level decreases and this finally help your heart to return to normal functioning. Also, blood pressure gets reduced with regular physical activity, and even freehand exercises certainly reduce the risk of attacks by controlling obesity.
Even if you are unable to hit the gym daily, a brisk walk or half an hour of cycling can do the trick. Additionally, to be financially secured against any medical emergency, make sure to have heart insurance in place. A heart insurance plan pays a lump sum amount in case the emergency strikes and makes the situation financially less stressful for your family.
Conclusion:
To have a good and healthy relationship with your loved ones, you need to be healthy, and for that, you need to understand the above-mentioned relationships of your heart. Your heart is a very sensitive organ, and you must handle all these relationships carefully to make sure it doesn’t get hurt.
