First water ATM in the village to resolve clean drinking water concern 

Village Rohad, Haryana, 05th June, 2018: Jindal Stainless Foundation, part of Jindal Stainless Group, today reiterated its commitment to fulfilling business responsibilities. The Foundation dedicated a water ATM to the community at Village ‘Rohad’ in Haryana on World Environment day. As a responsible corporate citizen, particularly for the marginalized communities in the vicinity of its operations, Jindal Stainless continuously engages with communities through sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects. Emphasizing the commitment to improve lives, Chairperson, Jindal Stainless Foundation & Managing Director, JSL Lifestyle, Ms. Deepikka Jindal, said, “Giving back to the society and improving lives is an integral philosophy of our foundation and we are committed to the communities  we are surrounded by. Throughout the year, we engage in numerous initiatives with an aim to bring about a meaningful change in the lives of the community people. We are extremely happy to have installed the water ATM, which will not only provide clean & safe drinking water, but also have a direct impact on the health of people living in the vicinity”.  Water ATM will directly benefit more than 7000 people in the village.

Drinking water has assumed critical importance in the future of human survival. It will be the central agenda in global burden of diseases. Jindal Stainless foundation had been concerned about the community needs in the vicinity of the workshop in Rohad, especially the lack of clean drinking water. It was after carrying out a need assessment that this initiative has been undertaken. This also underscores clean drinking water initiative as part of ‘Mission Swachh Bharat’, which not only mitigates the problem of clean drinking water through installation of the water ATM, but demonstrates community ownership. As per this model, land for the water station is acquired by the local panchayat and the capital cost of Rs. 35 lakh per water station is granted by Jindal Stainless along with the corporate partner, Water Life.  This water station is based on ATM model where water dispensation will be at a minimal cost for quality drinking water. The cost of water being dispensed by water ATM is 35 paisa per litre, against the price of one litre bottled drinking water sold in the market for Rs. 20. This will be the second functional water ATM in Haryana by Jindal Stainless Foundation. The first water ATM is currently functional in Pathredi village.

This ATM model is based on community ownership, where it will be run by the local community and earnings from the ATM will support the operational and maintenance costs. Developers need to take the onus of Waste Responsibility


Waste management is a collective responsibility, one which falls under the purview of everyone concerned, and isn’t a responsibility of only a few. This is especially true when we see humongous amount of waste generated on a daily basis in the living spaces that one dwells in.  In this context, reports suggest that the real-estate sector is one of the largest contributors to waste generation. It’s responsible for nearly a quarter of the country’s carbon dioxide emissions, which come mainly from energy-intensive processes in making construction materials such as steel, cement and bricks. Real estate development is one of the biggest consumers of natural resources (water, energy, raw materials) and generates gargantuan amounts of wastes and pollutants.

The rapid rate of depletion and concurrent steep rise in greenhouse gases emission and waste generation have resulted in continuous environmental degradation. This is the primary cause of climate change, the rise in average temperatures and deteriorating air quality in our cities. With this alarming consequences staring at our faces, some of India’s top builders have in fact pledged to make at least a fifth of their new housing developments sustainable by 2022, as the country looks to tap sectors other than renewable energy to meet its ambitious climate goals. By adopting green building practices, the real estate sector can reduce its negative ecological footprint and simultaneously help create a more sustainable environment over the long haul. Efforts towards sustainable real estate development involve the optimal use of natural resources, reduction and recycling of wastes, and significantly reduced pollutant emissions. A sustainable environment is the most precious legacy humankind can leave for the future generations.

According to the recent waste management rules, all residents’ welfare and market associations, gated communities and institutions with an area of more than 5,000 sqm. will have to make arrangements to segregate biodegradable waste and compost it within their own premises. Also, more and more builders are ensuring that their projects are IGBC (The Indian Green Building Council) certified, wherein the buildings are ratified on the basis of their water consumption, optimization of energy efficiency, conservation of natural resources, generation of less waste and providing for healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building.

Scientific researches in the past decades have confirmed that a major source of unconventional energy can be obtained from waste. Waste-to-Energy, also widely recognized by its acronym ‘WtE’, is the use of modern combustion and biological technologies to recover energy in the form of heat or electricity from urban wastes.

This is where the use of technology could have a major impact in managing waste and achieving environmental sustainability.

Technologies that could help create a sustainable impact: 
Conversion of non-recyclable materials through various processes including thermal and non-thermal technologies are being used while recovering energy from waste. Energy that is produced in the form of electricity, heat or fuel using combustion, pyrolization, gasification methods - is clean and renewable energy, with reduced carbon emissions and minimal environmental impact than any other form of energy.

Some of the most commonly used methods include Thermal Conversion, which is a complete oxidation process involving thermal degradation of waste under high temperature; Thermochemical Conversion, which is a common technique for producing both heat and electrical energy from waste is Thermochemical Conversion, which involves direct combustion; Biochemical Conversion, a processes to produce clean energy in the form of biogas which can be converted to power and heat using a gas engine; Physico-chemical Conversion, which involves various processes to improve physical and chemical properties of solid waste, and finally Electrochemical Conversion, which refers to Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) where the reduction-oxidation equipment of powerless microbial cells is chemically exploited by the addition of the catalyst.

So, the adoption of environment-friendly waste-to-energy technologies is the need of the hour. As different sectors of industries are booming, it is a key responsibility for all to device sustainable waste management system to dispose-off the waste.  Also, using the waste to produce energy instead of dumping in landfill, will lower the risks of soil contamination, which is the root cause of endangered wildlife and polluted water sources. It also reduces the reliance on energy imports and the environmental cost of transferring that energy to our country, if we can generate it from our own waste materials.

The real estate industry holds a pivotal role in bringing awareness among the homebuyers and also implementing more eco-friendly solutions in their projects. We have initiated a waste to energy drive, where 3 tonnes waste would be converted to energy, thereby saving nearly 1100 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. It correlates to about 420 units of electricity generation every day or about 1, 50,000 units every year. However, across India many more developers and builders should actively take up these initiatives, where we ‘Nurture nature, for the future’.

However, there are also those that see the downside to mobile technology, particularly when it comes to communication and relationships. Of course, mobile technology and modern technology as a whole have made it easier for us to communicate using a variety of different, convenient methods. The downside is that many people feel that this has resulted in real communication being abandoned such as meeting up with people face to face or going out for a meal and a catch up. Often when you go out with friends, family, or a partner, one or more people are glued to their phones and spend more time messaging and going on Facebook than talking with the person they are supposed to be out with.

An impact on all relationships


In short, technology has had an impact on all relationships. This includes friends, family members, and partners. When it comes to the latter, the situation has become very odd. Couples that are sitting right next to one another in the same room have been known to communicate by messaging one another on social media rather than just talking to one another. When couples go out for meals, one or both will be tapping away on their phone and sitting there in silence rather than communicating. Even the number of people having affairs has shot up as a result of technology such as social media and mobile phones. Many poor man or woman has discovered that their partner has been up to no good after seeing their social media account or using facilities such as reverse phone lookup to find out who they have been spending all their time talking to on the phone.

When it comes to relationships between friends, many people no longer see one another these days even if they only live a short distance away. This is because they can now chat using social media sites, instant messaging sites, and Skype. While these are all great forms of technology when it comes to helping you to keep in touch with friends, some would say that they have taken over and resulted in people spending far less time with one another.

While there is no doubt that modern technology has had a huge positive impact on the personal lives of most people, there is also no doubt that some of the impact has been on the negative side. It has made digital communication far easier and more convenient for everyone but has affected our ability and desire to communicate on a more personal level.

NBCC to construct AIIMS in Himachal Pradesh valuing Rs. 1138 Crores

NBCC (India) Ltd., a Navratna CPSE under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has bagged a prestigious project for planning, designing & construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kothipara in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh valuing Rs. 1138 Crores. The Project has been awarded to NBCC by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). Spread over 205 acres, the proposed institution shall have a Hospital with capacity of 750 beds which will include Emergency/Trauma Beds, AYUSH Beds, Private Beds and ICU (Specialty & Super Specialty) Beds.

In addition, there will an institutional block catering to around 100 MBBS students and 60 nursing students apart from an Administration Block, AYUSH Block, Auditorium, Night Shelter, Guest House, Hostels and Residential facilities which will be equipped with modern amenities.

Rahul age 42 years had noticed a bulge in his right shoulder for over one year, but neglecting it thinking it to be a minor issue. It came to his notice only when the symptoms were persistent and troubling his daily activities and he observed the growth of the bulge very rapid. When he decided to consult a specialist, most of the doctors had the opinion to perform surgery, while many others told it to be a cancer. Being dejected, he decided to go for a second opinion in order to prevent the chemotherapy and surgical treatment. For better diagnosis, the patient made a visit to Artemis hospital, Gurugram. With the help of ultrasound, which was difficult to identify otherwise, the tumor had a milky white color and was developing.

On proper investigation the reports revealed that lymph nodes had changes from solid to a liquid mass and the affected area was seen with fresh skin growth. Further blood tests revealed non cancerous tumor cells and inflammatory cell response. The team decided to go for the cyberknife treatment which is non-invasive and appropriate for such kind of tumors. With having zero side-effects, the patient was treated perfectly and discharged the same day. The patient had been visiting for over 2 weeks for a regular post-operative check-up which was fine and is living a hassle free life. 

What is Non-Cancerous Tumour?

Non-Cancerous tumor or benign tumours are the abnormal growth of the tumor cells that do not proliferate and spread across the adjacent tissues. Such tumors can cause severity if left untreated, but prognosis is usually favorable with better response to treatment. Once after removal, the chances of re-growth of such cells are almost zero. All such tumors are non-life-threatening, but the probability to get transformed into malignant are very high if not treated on time.Says Dr.Aditya

Types of Non-Cancerous Tumour 

·         Ademona – these are the most common type of benign tumors that can arise from the thin epithelial layer of glands. The most common sites to form such tumors are the liver, pituitary glands, thyroid glands, polyps in the colon or uterine cavity.

·         Fibroids – the tumors that can grow in connective tissues of any organ. Such tumors need immediate attention and appropriate treatment in order to prevent it from becoming malignant.

·         Hemangioma – when the blood vessel cells build-up in the skin or other internal organs, it is referred to as hemangiomas. It is often noticed in the head, neck and the trunk region with reddish or bluish color. Surgical intervention may only be required in cases when the patient has a difficulty with vision, hearing or voluntary movements.

·         Lipoma– the most common kind of benign tumor found in adults that grow from the fat cells and are noticeable in the neck, shoulders, and back. They are usually soft to touch, moving and grows slowly. A quicker growth or pain may indicate immediate attention to prevent further complications.

Cyberknife - the best option for benign tumor

The ‘Machie’ trophy was conferred upon the winners in various categories such as Safety, Productivity, Machining Excellence, Digital Manufacturing, Innovation and Green Manufacturing. The awards platform also included non-manufacturing categories such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Human Resources (HR) and Supply Chain Management.

One of the leading manufacturing plant Supreme Treon, Sanand Plant 1 was declared as The Machinist Super Shopfloor of the Year in the SME segment while Hyundai India’s Engine 2, Chennai plant won The Machinist Super Shopfloor of the Year under the Large Enterprises category for their overall performances.

Apart from rewarding best practices adopted by the Shopfloors, The Machinist also recognised individual’s contribution towards the Indian manufacturing sector. In this effort, Sriram Viji Deputy Managing Director, Brakes India was announced as The Machinist Super Next Generation Leader 2018 while Sudhir Mehta, Chairman & Managing Director, Pinnacle Industries was declared as The Machinist Super Entrepreneur of the Year 2018. Haleem eating competition held at SodaBottleOpenerWala

Hyderabad, 06th June, 2018 - SodaBottleOpenerWala known for its Irani specialties & for Bombay Street Food, has curated eleven spectacular haleems being served all through the month of Ramzan. This year also SodaBottleOpenerWala organised the much awaited Haleem eating competition. The annual Haleem Competiton this year had a quiz competition with the group members of Foodies In Hyderabad - Reloaded , through that they shortlisted 10 contenders who got their team partners for cheering them during the competition.

SodaBottleOpenerWala served 3 different Haleems like roasted corn Haleem, chicken Haleem & prawns Haleem in the first round. On finishing all these, the participants were served the irani mutton Haleem and vegetable haleem, all the participants were supposed to finish all the haleem with in the duration of 15 minutes.

The Winner of The Haleem Competition was Mr. Amith Nair who ate a whopping 2.6kg & the Runner Up was Mr. Ankit who came close to 2.2kg. The Gyarah handi Haleem festival is giving the opportunity to the Hyderabad people to try the different variants of Haleem at SodaBottleOpenerwala and making it their preferred destination for tasting Haleem this year.
